At the end of August we will be able to enjoy the 15th edition of the Indigenous Film and Video Festival in the city of Morelia, which main concern is to revalue and reaffirm the culture, traditions, cosmogony, everyday life and problems of the native people of Mexico.
This festival was created in 2005 under the name of Festival de Video Indígena (Indigenous Video Festival). In addition to being based in Morelia, it is shown in different cities of the country, as well as in indigenous communities. It is dedicated to the promotion of audiovisual materials, the central theme of which is that of indigenous groups. Indigenous or non-indigenous creators, civil or independent associations, academics or professionals are invited to participate. The types of materials that participate are short or medium-length films, whether animation, fiction, experimental or documentary.
This event is organized by the Inter-Institutional Commission for the Culture of the Indigenous People of Michoacán (CICPIM).
This year, the Festival will take place August 26-30 at the Casa Natal de Morelos Museum, located at La Corregidora 103 in the historic center of Morelia. A total of 15 materials will be screened from 18 to 20 hours and entry will be free. After the presentations there will be a table of experts who will analyze the thematic contents of the videos.
